Press Release : AHEAD, Inc., announces the Maruku Health Center / AHEAD, Incorporated Summer 2025 3rd Annual Community Health Fair July 14-July 17, 2025
Rockville, MD, April 15, 2025: The governing board of AHEAD, Inc are excited to announce our 3rd Annual Community Health Fair on the campus of the Maruku Health Center in partnership with the medical staff of the Maruku Health Center, Maruku, Tanzania, and the Ministry of Health of Tanzania. This all -volunteer trip to the Bukoba District of Tanzania promises to be nothing short of incredible! With medical supplies shipped and in hand, and an army of dedicated AHEAD volunteer physicians, dentists, nurses, and staff, among them our wonderful partners from the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) who have partnered with us on this effort each year since its inauguration, we will sojourn to the Maruku Township in Bukoba Rural District, and partner with the local medical staff to deliver essential education, training, patient care, expertise, and medical supplies, while addressing the immediate needs of all the women, children and men who will participate with the fair. We will provide emergency services and refer patients for acute intervention or follow up with local providers at Maruku or at the Bukoba District Hospital. All is made possible by generous donations to AHEAD, Inc. and the altruism of the local providers and volunteers with AHEAD-Tanzania and AHEAD-USA.
The fair will encompass 4 days of specific attention to health education, women’s care, prenatal care, pediatric care, dental hygiene, restoration and oral surgery, care, orthopedic care, wound care, and general internal medicine care, where we anticipate screening, evaluating, and treating over 1000 patients arriving from all parts of the region. We will rely on our partners with AHEAD-Tanzania to assist with any emergency needs and transportation needs to the district hospital 10 miles away; and the volunteers from the Maruku Secondary School to assist with translation and incidental patient needs to help make the fair a success.
We anticipate this community based volunteer effort will, once again, be memorable – galvanizing lives of the patients and their families, the community, and AHEAD volunteers. It serves as yet another example of the amazing work of AHEAD, Incorporated and our commitment to improve the life of the individual and their family, and to our mission: improving the human condition through grass roots people to people partnerships that help to reduce and eradicate disease and premature death, cultivate and advance healthy living, and foster sustainable environmental activities to improve the quality of life for vulnerable communities in Africa.
