Mission Trip to Tanzania
For more than five decades, AHEAD has led structured volunteer delegations to Tanzania—building sustained institutional partnerships and strengthening rural health and education systems through long-term collaboration.

Youth Health & Sports Camp
A central focus of the 2026 mission is the combined Youth Health Ambassadors and Sports Leadership Camp for secondary students.
- Evidence-based instruction on nutrition and disease prevention
- Workshops linking physical activity with long-term health
- Leadership principles reinforced through organized sports
Community Health Fair
In conjunction with NYRN nurses, supporting a two-day Community Health Fair at Maruku Health Center, providing preventive screenings and professional consultations.
- Expands access to preventive care
- Supports local medical staff
- Reinforces Maruku Health Center as a regional hub
Zanzibar Cultural Experience
Deepen understanding of Tanzania’s cultural heritage while experiencing one of East Africa’s most distinctive coastal environments.
- Guided exploration of Stone Town
- Immersive experiences in local markets
- Time for reflection along white-sand beaches
Beyond direct service
In addition to direct service components, volunteers will participate in:
Strategic meetings with the AHEAD–Bukoba Advisory Committee
Site visits to Maruku Secondary School
Professional collaboration with Tanzanian leaders
Dialogue regarding sustainable program expansion
