Our Story
50 Years of Nonprofit Impact in Tanzania
AHEAD, Inc. was founded in 1974 when Dr. Irving Williams, a pediatrician, and his wife Elvira Williams, an educator, moved their family to Tanzania. What began as a mission of service soon became a lifelong commitment to community-based global health programs and sustainable development.
Their work was guided by a simple yet powerful philosophy:
“Good health requires good nutrition; good nutrition requires good agriculture; and education is the vehicle for sustainability.”
This belief continues to shape AHEAD Inc.’s approach—combining healthcare, nutrition, agriculture, and education to create integrated, long-term solutions.
